Environment; Natural Resources, Urban Solid Waste;
After the Industrial Revolution, urbanization intensified all over the planet, to the point of being considered by some scientists as the most important social transformation of our time. However, society and the environment, as they could not be otherwise, live in an intense dynamic process, because social factors, including increased consumption and waste generation, affect the environment, and this, in turn responds to this process. The extraction of natural resources for the production of consumer goods is above the carrying capacity of the planet, resulting in excessive production of solid waste and unsustainable use of natural resources, constituting a destructive logic and a risk to the sustainability of the environment. whose reversal depends on changing individual and collective attitudes and practices. From this perspective, the study aimed to formulate a diagnosis regarding the management and management of urban solid waste in the Western Cariri of Paraíba, in the Northeast of the country, verifying the adequacy of the municipalities to the environmental and administrative legislation regarding the National Policy of Solid Waste (NPSW).
