SUMMARY:

Geography teaching has experienced great transformations that have repercussions on the teaching performance and on the students' learning process. In this context, the need arose to develop methodological procedures aimed at the early years of elementary school. Within the scope of these methodological procedures, the perspective of the geographic education approach, which takes into account the student's living space, emerges as a proposition that has contributed to school geography as an interesting and constructive discipline. The research that is underway aims to produce a didactic-pedagogical material for teachers of Fundamental Education - Initial Years, in ebook format, which sets up pedagogical trails, outlined from didactic sequences for the teaching of Geography, having the Complex Tourist Island of Santana as a reference space. The methodological procedures were bibliographic, documentary and field research. In this path, the results partially systematized, show remarkable aspects in the trajectory of Geography, from the background to its recognition as a science, as well as its insertion as a school discipline; the recognition of the main elements that reveal the insertion of the Geography area in official documents such as the Law of Directives and Bases of Education 93.94 / 96, Common National Base (2017) and the Curricular Document of Rio Grande - Elementary School (2018) and the proposition of pedagogical trails, based on two didactic sequences.
