SUMMARY:

Geopolitics is matrix in the evolution of geographic science and structuring for the formation of spatial reasoning on a global, world and local scale. This vision makes geography, to a certain extent, like the one that teaches about the division of the Earth into continents, countries, states, cities. The task of developing competences and skills that lead to the learning of these divisions, requires: teaching how different social, economic, political and cultural interests plot the permanences and changes that move the geopolitical scenario; develop teaching strategies to achieve the purpose. Comic books are a field of study in this direction, considering that explorations of geopolitical themes are recurrent in these magazines. The work investigates how the narratives of Comics can be problematized to teach Geopolitics themes prescribed for school geography? How can the language of comics be a strategy to teach geography, considering the scales of experience of students, from the final grades of elementary school II, in São Bento do Trairi / RN? The questions refer us to the analysis of Comics (Comics) as a language that associates teaching and strategy, with an emphasis on Geopolitics and school reality in the city of São Bento do Trairi / RN and the proposition of an orientation guide for teachers to use HQ's in the classroom. The methodology is based on bibliographic research, the result of which theoretically and methodologically supports the work of authors such as SERRES (2013), which presents contextual elements to understand aspects related to the education scenario today; RAFFESTIN (1993), ANDRADE (1995), SOUZA (1995), HAESBAERTH (2004), SANTOS (1999), VESENTINI (2010), FONSECA (2017), CLAVAL (1979), CASTRO (2005), MELLO (1999) and COSTA (1992) address issues related to territory, political geography and geopolitics, presenting conditions for the dialogue that theoretically supports the work. VERGUEIRO (2004), CAMPOS (2013), SILVA (2012), REZENDE (2009), CIRNE (2000), EISNER (1995), (RAMA and VERGUEIRO, 2006), PIRES (2005), FILHO (2017) and SOUZA ( 2019), are subsidies to contextualize Comics, the emergence of Marvel Comic in the United States and Brazil; and in exploratory research with survey and analysis of documents such as Municipal Education Plan, PCN’s, BNCC, Pedagogical Political Projects and Internal Regulations of schools, annual plans of teachers of this discipline, in addition to old comic books, textbooks of the discipline of Geography. There was also a survey of information in the schools studied, to collect data on the teaching and learning process in Geography, with observations from the classes of the 8th and 9th grades of Elementary School II, photographic records and notes in the field diary. From then on, we were able to observe deficiencies in terms of didactic resources and languages used in the classroom to work with the contents of Geopolitics; we ratify the notion that, over time, HQ’s became a language absorbed by the adolescent public of students, but it was little used in the school environment, as a strategy to teach geography in the final grades of elementary school; we were able to propose “Comics and Teaching Geography” as a strategy to teach geopolitics, we held a pedagogical workshop, with theoretical and practical activities on the narratives in Marvel Comics Comics, so that, afterwards, the participants could create HQs based on in the contents of Geopolitics worked in the classroom in interface with the local reality, MARGEO emerged.
