SUMMARY:

Physical exercise with the application of some type of resistance is usually employed, aiming at gaining strength and muscle hypertrophy, in addition to improving the other neuromuscular components. In this perspective, several training protocols appear as possibilities for greater muscular gains, among which the training with repetition to failure and training with variation of 70-85% of the 1RM (Maximum Repetition) stand out. In addition, training with vascular occlusion, which consists of a training with low load, many repetitions and restriction of blood flow, appears to potentiate the training with light loads. In view of the above, it is important to evaluate the best form of resistance training, considering the differences and conflicts found in the literature regarding the protocols. Thus, the present study aims to compare different protocols of resistance training in young and sedentary women, with the purpose of gaining strength and muscle hypertrophy. This is a randomized clinical trial in which 45 volunteers will be randomly allocated into three groups of 15 participants each: G1 (3-Series Resistance Training of 8 Reps with 70% of 1RM)  , G2 (3-Series Resistance Training Up to 70% of 1RM Failure) and G3 (30% Restricted Training of 1RM and 60% Restriction of Blood Flow). Participants will be evaluated before starting the protocol (T0), 6 weeks after initiating it (T1) and after 12 weeks, with the end of the intervention protocol (T2). In the evaluations, the bilateral 1RM test with bar and washers will be performed, dynamometry (Lafayette Hand Held Dynamometer®), perimetry of the elbow flexors and surface electromyography of both arms separately. The normality of the data will be evaluated by the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and the correlation between the maximum load and the number of repetitions will be verified by the Pearson Correlation Test, in case of normal distribution. In order to determine the intragroup and intergroup differences, a mixed model of Analysis of Variance (ANOVA mixed) with Bonferroni Post-Hoc tests will be used. All data will be analyzed by SPSS® (Statistical Package Social Science) software version 21.0 and the significance level of p <0.05 will be set for all tests.
