Abstract: This paper traces the conception of man in Wagner from his theoretical writings and his dramaturgical practice, especially in drama The Ring of the Nibelung and Parsifal. The aesthetic theory of Wagner, the work of art-all, has its heart in the interdependence between the arts that form the stage show. Allied to his theory of art, Wagner developed a conception of man. This Wagnerian conception of man is to make society into a community of men, artists and oppose bourgeois man of the nineteenth century. Through its humanistic design, the playwright and the German thinker sought to transform social values of his time to place the art as the center of human activity and even sacralizing art through theater. Thus, Richard Wagner leads the ultimate consequences of the dream idealistic movements of Romanticism and Symbolism to establish the Religion of Art.
