“SANTO DE CASA NAO FAZ MILAGRES”
The impact of safeguard policies at the Santo Antônio Party (Barbalha / Ceará)
Popular Festivals. Intangible Heritage. Popular culture. Popular Groups. Safeguard.
The doctoral thesis proposes to analyze the patrimonialization processes and their impacts at the Santo Antônio Party, in Barbalha / CE. I will observe the tensions and disputes related to the intervention of the preservation institutions, the performance of the municipal professionals (secretary of culture, tourist and other responsible persons) and popular groups. With the registration of the party in Iphan's book of celebrations in 2015, popular groups had to experience the constraints related to heritage (changes in their customs and traditions, increased bureaucratization, disbelief in municipal institutions). The survey was carried out in the years 2018, 2019, during the preparation of the party and its implementation, and in 2020, with interviews with municipal agents and members of popular groups. The methodological procedures adopted were, above all, ethnography and interviews.
