SUMMARY:

Study 1: Translation and Cross-Cultural Adaptation of the Cardiac Self-Efficacy Scale for the Brazilian population. Objective: To translate, cross-culturally adapt and analyze the psychometric properties of the Cardiac Sel-Efficacy Scale (CSES) for use in the Brazilian population. Materials and methods: This is an exploratory and psychometric methodological study, which involves the process of translation, cross-cultural adaptation and analysis of psychometric properties. The translation and cross-cultural adaptation will take place according to internationally described and used recommendations, involving translation procedures, back-translation, a multidisciplinary committee of experts and pre-test in a representative sample of the new population. The psychometric properties will be evaluated by applying the questionnaire to a sample of adults with a self-reported diagnosis of coronary heart disease and heart failure. Assessment of socioeconomic status (Brazil Economic Classification Criteria); quality of life (The Short Form Health Survery 36 validated for the Brazilian population); heart disease knowledge questionnaire (Coronary Artery Disease Education Questionnaire Short Version validated for the Brazilian population); general self-efficacy questionnaire (Perceived General Self-Efficacy Scale validated for the Brazilian population); depression assessment questionnaire (Hamilton Depression Assessment Questionnaire validated for Brazilian population) and heart failure classification (New York Heart Association Classification of Heart Failure). Content validity, reliability, construct validity, convergent validity, divergent validity and concurrent validity will be investigated. Expected results: It is expected to provide a reliable and valid instrument for the assessment of cardiac self-efficacy for the Brazilian population. It is also expected that the tool will assist in health care for these patients, both in the clinical, scientific and academic spheres.

Study 2: Self-efficacy measurement instruments for individuals with coronary heart disease: a systematic review. Objective: To identify instruments developed to assess self-efficacy in individuals with CAD and assess the methodological quality and measurement properties, in addition to linking the content of the instruments to the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF). Methods and analysis: The study is being developed in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Protocol and Consensus Norms for Selection of Health Measuring Instruments (COSMIN). Using the following databases: MEDLINE (Ovid), Web of Science, EMBASE and PsycINFO. Studies that evaluate the measurement properties of cardiac self-efficacy instruments for individuals with CAD will be included. No date or language restrictions will apply to the survey. Two independent authors will be responsible for evaluating the eligibility of the studies. The methodological quality of the studies will be assessed using the COSMIN RoB Checklist, and the Classification of Recommendations, Evaluation, Development and Evaluation will be used to assess the quality of each study. Ethics and Disclosure: This study does not require ethics committee approval as it is based on previously published data. Evidence from this systematic review will be disseminated through publication in peer-reviewed journals and presentation at scientific conferences. PROSPERO registration number: CRD42021262613.
