Characterized by a complex disease that is driven by DNA modifications, cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Among the most lethal types, breast cancer is the second cause of death related to cancer in the annual statistics. About 1.3 million women develop it each year. Even after treatment, many patients have deficiencies in physical and cognitive functioning, in addition to triggering associated diseases. This difficulty can arise before or after the diagnosis of cancer and can be linked to the composition of the human microbiome. With mortality fluctuating around 50%, current therapies combine treatment with a high degree of uncertainty. Although many study regarding cancer- associated dysbiosis are available exist, understanding the relationship between the microbiome and cancer is challenger because complex molecular network, requiring further exploration to understand and propose complementary therapies to current treatments. Thus, this thesis objective to analyze the association of the human microbiome in the progression and treatment of breast cancer. Small samples were selected to establish the flow of analyzes and the steps of quality control of the reads and trimming were carried out, are the pre-processing, a fundamental step for the subsequent analyses. It initially notes high quality reads in group 2 and few failures in the initial analysis of the sample in group 1. We were able to obtain samples of high quality and with absence contaminants to proceed with the taxonomic and functional analyses.
