The Science, Technology, Society and Environment (CTSA) approach develops scientific and environmental education. It also promotes student participation in community decisions and understanding of the scientific world with developed technologies as well as understanding of their daily lives. This becomes effective for teaching chemistry, which is an important science to understand the world around us. It is in our daily lives, as, for example, in medicines, in industry, in household cleaning products. However, several students are not interested, not motivated and here experience difficulties in learning this discipline in schools, due to the way in which the concepts are worked out, without relation between classroom contents and students previous knowledge. This work aims to develop several activities based on a didactic sequence on the subject of acids and bases, using a socio-environmental approach of the CTSA teaching for the vocational technical course. As a methodology for this research, the study was carried out in a class of the 2 year of the Technical Course of Medium Level in Fishing Resources in the Integrated Form in the IFRN campus Macau, to enable data collection and analysis. The strategy was divided into 10 classes and carried out using three pedagogical moments (MUENCHEN; DELIZOICOV, 2012): problems, organization of knowledge and application of knowledge. In the beginning, to collect data on the students prior ideas of the concepts of acids and bases, a questionnaire was applied using Google classroom. Then a text was found on the G1 news site Globo, about an accident with acid. Then, an expositive lecture on history, nomenclature and classification of acids and bases was carried out. The exhibition was complemented by a video on acid rain. The subsequent action was a practical lesson for the preparation of natural indicator from purple cabbage and analyzes of the mixtures that the students provided. Finally, interviews were conducted with IFRN / MC laboratory technicians on the environmental hazards of the workplace and waste management. As an evaluation of the didactic sequence, the students were instructed to perform a textual production based on a questioning. Note that students have difficulty classifying everyday materials as acid or base. However, in the text produced by the students at the end of the didactic sequence are phrases about acid rain, acidification of the oceans, soils, accidents with acids, EPIs and damages caused to the human being, with this we perceive an evolution on the CTSA approach , where these students are concerned with environmental and social problems.
