RESUMO:

Information when applied strategically can add value and become intelligence to assist in decision making, problem solving, innovation development, and vantage- ness . In a scenario where everyone can create, access and share information and knowledge, while the time available to select, evaluate and use them in a meaningful and productive way becomes increasingly scarce, effective management of these resources are set a challenge d and paramount importance. In this sense, the medicines information services (SIM) installed at the University Hospital Onofre Lopes (HUOL)shown as a specialized informational unit that aims to provide r information in an objective, relevant and updated to support the clinical practice of health professionals the institution. Therefore, it is worth questioning whether SIM / HUOL effectively contributes to the practice of health care in the hospital community. Thus, the overall objective of the study is to audit the SIM / HUOL regarding its contribution to the practice of health care in the hospital community. The specific objectives aim to: a) verify the search behavior and use d information on medicines for health professionals working in HUOL; b) to assess the perception of health professionals as to the relevance of SIM / HUOL to their health care actions; c) to monitor the flow of information on medicines provided to SIM / HUOL users; d) compare the structure and activities of SIM / HUOL with other similar information units ; e ) Establish an improvement plan aimed at improving and adapting SIM / HUOL to institutional purposes. In order to achieve the objectives of the study, we will apply the intelligence audit method proposed by Carvalho (2010), since it allows us to approach in a holistic wayall necessary elements for the planning and evaluation of intelligence and information units. It is a descriptive study with a qualitative and quantitative approach. The instruments selected for application to selected participants among health professionals working at HUOL include a questionnaire, documentary analysis, focus group and the Benchmarking technique. The result obtained in the study will subsidize the plan with recommendations for improvements aimed at improving the service and its adequacy and adaptation to changes in the institution, the environment, and the users it is intended to attend.
