RESUMO:

The Information age is permeated by the development of Information and
Communication Technologies (ICT) and has information with a prominent role in
society, being fundamental for the generation of knowledge. To produce
knowledge, one must understand the importance of information and the
behavior adopted identifying the skills and competencies needed to carry out
this process, as well as the sources used to satisfy their informational needs.
The text characterizes informational literacy, its origin and the standards and
indicators used for the implementation and evaluation of programs of
informational literacy of upper level students. In this scenario, this study intends
to answer the following question: What strategies and actions can be designed
to develop informational skills among undergraduate students of UFRN in order
to enhance the use of the Capes Periodicals Portal? The research is
characterized as descriptive, with quantitative-qualitative approach, applied to
undergraduate students of the Health area in UFRN, having as research
environment the Capes Periodicals Portal. As a data collection instrument, a
focus group and a structured questionnaire will be used, built according to the
standards and indicators of the informational literacy for higher education, in
order to identify strategies and actions capable of developing informational
literacy undergraduate students of the health area of UFRN, in additiona to
expanding the use of the Capes Periodicals Portal.
