RESUMO:

The university always had a leading role in society providing teaching, and citizens intellectual training. However, the passive role of promoting education has not been enough to guarantee the standardizing of global knowledge, being the university called to act in another plan: The Entrepreneurial University. This thematic is very clear in the Triple Helix, which is the interactive relationship between three economically collaborative independent agents: University, Government and Industry. This tripod forms a knowledge network, in which the university acts as an agent responsible for ensuring the knowledge transfer and promoting entrepreneurship through innovation methods. In this perspective, it is appropriate and opportune to develop mechanisms to facilitate the knowledge transfer. Design Thinking, in this research, will be used for this proposal, because it is an approach that aims to solve problems in a collective and collaborative manner, emphasizing the intercalation between divergent and convergent thinking. This iterative process search for innovation through pooling and exchange of knowledge between a knowledge network composed by members of multidisciplinary areas. Suggesting the adoption of Design Thinking as a method of knowledge transfer in the University-Industry interaction, specifically, is justified by the understanding that these are the actors with the greatest capacity to generate interchangeable products, processes and innovations, while the Government acts with greater emphasis in the promotion and financing of these relations. In this sense, the general objective of this study is to propose and validate the adequacy of a framework based on Design Thinking to promote the knowledge transfer in the Bioinformatics Multidisciplinary Environment (BioME) of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). Specifically, this proposal intends to:  perform an intensive literature review by relating - emphatically - Design Thinking and Knowledge Transfer in the context of University-Industry interaction; to structure a framework based on Design Thinking for BioME; to analyze, with local experts, the framework adequacy to the process of creating a successful product/service of BioME and; to analyse the framework validated by local experts. This is an applied research, with a qualitative approach and an exploratory purpose. Methodological procedures were structured by the Design Research Methodology (DRM), presenting the strategies for each research objective. The intense literature review allowed the researcher to develop a Design Thinking process and format it within a framework combined with other elements associated to innovation methods. The framework adequacy analysis to BioME products/ services creating process, as well as the validation with the local experts, were carried out through individual interviews and a focus group, respectively. During the results discussion, the framework originally produced, showed modifications from both observations performed during the interviews and the focus group. The general objective was reached at the end of the research and, the framework final construct - proposed and validated - can be obtained at the Internet address http://bioinfo.imd.ufrn.br/big/.
