RESUMO:

This work consists of a research on the management of museum collections. The objective is to propose a model for the management of the Ethnology Collection of the Museu Câmara Cascudo employing the Acervus System, which was developed by the UFRN Computing Technology Office. This system makes it possible to include metadata according to the needs of each collection. For the insertion of these metadata is in accordance with the requirements of the Information Management and the museological principles, a documentary analysis is being carried out in the legislations, guidelines and other systems related to this subject to base the choices more assertively considering, mainly, the informational needs of the sector that protect this collection. As theoretical support, authors were researched on Information Management, Information Systems and Collection Management. The application of this work will be the adaptation of the Acervus System to the demands of the Ethnology Sector of the Museu Câmara Cascudo.
