RESUMO:

The importance of information technology resources in the various segments of society and especially in the health area is evident, collecting and producing information necessary for decision-making in user assistance, management of health actions and services and subsidizing the Knowledge of the population's health. The need for integration of this information has generated initiatives of the Ministry of Health, through the Department of Information Technology of the SUS (DATASUS), the Information and Health Informatics Committee (CIINFO) and the National Health Information and Informatics Policy (PNIIS), Together with the guidelines set forth by the National Primary Care Policy (Pnab), such as the elaboration of the e-SUS Basic Care Strategy (e-SUS AB) to restructure the Basic Care Information System. This action is in line with the proposal of general restructuring of the Health Information Systems of the Ministry of Health, understanding that the qualification of information management is fundamental for increasing the quality of health care to the population. The implementation of this new system requires a joint action of the Ministry of Health and the municipal governments to adapt the structure and equipment of the Basic Health Units. For this, it is necessary to know the weaknesses and potentialities of the technological infrastructure of the UBSs of Natal - RN, as well as to verify the propensity of the Health Unit professionals to join and use the new tool. Thus, this research project aims to identify the technological readiness of the Basic Health Units of the city of Natal in the implementation of the e-SUS AB system.
