RESUMO:

Systems described by second degree differential equations, such as vibratory mechanical systems, are classified as second order systems and have a great importance in the universe of Engineering. These systems can be represented in their natural form with their second derivative equations or through first order representations as addressed in many papers dealing with this problem. When a first-order representation of second-order systems is made it becomes easier to find a solution to the problem since the system is described only by first order differential equations and the well-known control techniques are easily applied, but some deviations appear in this type of approach, for example, the doubling of the number of equations that model the system, in contrast the approach in its natural form brings some numerical rewards, the conservation of useful properties of the matrices that describe the system (definiteness and sparsity), as well as to approximate the physical
representation of the system to its mathematical model. When considering the insertion of the delay in the models an additional problem of representation by transfer function arises because the time delay defined by an exponential in the domain s can not be represented as a fraction of polynomials in s of finite degree. In order to overcome this problem, some papers make an approach proposing an approximation for the delay and improving its results as this approximation becomes more consistent with the real, the Padè approximation, for example, suggests that an infinite order transfer function could perfectly match the delay of a system. As this assertion is not achievable, such a measure, although reasonably satisfactory, is still an approximation and entails all the inconveniences of working with a model erected in this way. An example of this is the need for a posteriori analysis of a solution to the control problem and may sometimes result in undesired solution. The present work seeks to propose a method to solve the problem of control of second order systems with time delay using the techniques of control by frequency response with the objective of presenting an alternative to the approximations of the delay taking into
account that the frequency response of a delayed system can be achieved by multiplying the system transfer function without delay by its exponential in s and tracing the bode diagram in the same way as for systems without delay. To achieve this goal, a receptance matrix approach will be explored exploring the analogy with the transfer functions of the system to obtain the desired controller.
