IMPROVEMENT CYCLE FOR MONITORING PATIENTS WITH DIABETES IN PRIMARY CARE

Introduction: Diabetes Mellitus is one of the chronic non-communicable diseases and is considered an important global health problem as it affects an increasing number of people and, consequently, an increase in the number of complications related to the disease. Among the complications, diabetic foot stands out. To reduce this occurrence, the assessment of the feet of people with diabetes must be carried out periodically by trained professionals from the Primary Health Care team. The nurse, as a member of this team, must offer care aimed at preventing and controlling the disease, with the aim of improve quality of life and minimize complications. Objective: To carry out a quality improvement cycle in Nursing consultations for people with Diabetes in Primary Health Care. Methodology: Based on a quality improvement cycle, a quantitative before and after study will be developed, without a control group , following the SQUIRE guidelines, preserving the ethical precepts of resolutions Nº 466/12, 510/16 and 580/18. It is intended to implement the interventions in the second half of 2023, after approval by the Ethics Committee. Expected results: It is expected that the interventions will provide opportunities for improvement, increasing the chance of success in resolving the quality problems found and favoring better care for patients with diabetes.
