SUMMARY:

Introduction: Sickle cell anemia is the most prevalent genetic disease in Brazil and in the world, considered a chronic disease of great relevance to public health. This pathology causes clinical manifestations throughout the body, with possible physical, social and psychological disabilities, requiring multidisciplinary health care throughout the individual's life. Multidisciplinary care and access to quality health care are essential to ensure a quality of life for these people. Thus, carrying out quality management activities, such as improvement cycles, is essential for better results in health care. Objective: To develop a quality improvement cycle in the process of multidisciplinary care for people with sickle cell anemia in a hematology outpatient clinic and to measure the effect of the interventions carried out. Methodology: It consists of an intervention study, with a quasi-experimental design, with a time series, before-after type, without a control group, with a quantitative approach, to be carried out through a cycle of quality improvement in an outpatient clinic for hematology. The opportunity for improvement will be identified, with the definition of criteria to measure the level of quality, with subsequent initial assessment of the level of quality. Then the multifaceted interventions will be planned and implemented, and subsequent reassessment to verify the effectiveness of the planned interventions. These stages of the improvement cycle will count on the participation of health professionals. In the evaluation and reassessment stages, data will be collected from the patients' medical records and from the minutes of the multidisciplinary team meetings. At the end of the stages, it is intended to maintain continuous monitoring to sustain the improvement achieved. Expected results: This research is expected to contribute to promoting the benefits of multidisciplinary care, comprehensive health care, access to health services recommended for people with sickle cell anemia and the improvement of the quality of health care in reference centers the haemoglobinopathies.
