SUMMARY:

Introduction: Document management is a set of actions that seek to control all stages related to their life cycle. It is noteworthy that these must be available and organized in order to promote the efficiency of the processes described in them, thus the implementation of document management in health institutions becomes coherent, as they are essential to assist in the promotion of safe and qualified care . Objective: Improve document management at the Ana Bezerra University Hospital Methodology: a before-and-after quantitative study based on an improvement cycle, which will involve the evaluation of documents before and after the intervention, which will consist of the following actions : construction of a flow for the preparation and processing steps of the document; development of a program for processing the documents; training of those involved in each step that involves the flow, as well as in the use of the software. The activities are scheduled to take place in the second half of 2021 and will involve a multidisciplinary team from the hospital under study. The project was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte under number 4.816244. To assess the quality, before and after the intervention proposal, the calculation of the point estimate and the confidence interval (CI= 95%) of the level of compliance with the adopted quality criteria will be performed. The absolute and relative improvement of each criterion will be estimated in order to assess the effect of the intervention. To prove the statistical significance of the detected improvement, a unilateral hypothesis test will be performed by calculating the Z value, considering the absence of improvement as a null hypothesis, which will be rejected when the p-value < 0.05. In addition, a graphical representation of the main quality issues identified in the assessments will be developed. Expected results: From the proposed interventions, the aim is to qualify the management of documents, capable of strengthening the entire flow of preparation and processing of the same, in order to raise the efficiency of the processes based on what they are described, so that can offer safer and more qualified care, through the organization of document management.
