SUMMARY:

The surgery planning process begins by indicating the procedure according to the patient's needs, goes through preoperative care to perform surgery in the operating room and ends with postoperative care and hospital discharge guidelines. Surgical assistance at the three moments (pre, intra and postoperative) is a peculiar dynamic because it involves several actors and technologies of varying densities that must be synchronized to achieve a final goal, which is surgery performed in a timely manner and without any kind of surgery. injury to the patient at any stage of the surgical care process. The study aims to evaluate the improvement in the planning process of elective orthopedic surgeries in a trauma referral public hospital through the implementation of a quality management program. The study will be quasi-experimental, before and after, without control group with quantitative approach, using a quality improvement cycle with problem analysis, intervention and monitoring. In this sense, criteria were elaborated to evaluate the quality of surgery planning in a public referral hospital in trauma, from causes classified as modifiable, observing the precepts of face validity as the logical or apparent relevance of content related to dimension of the quality, needs and expectations of the professionals and also of criterion, using scientific evidence. It is intended to develop the study from September 2019 to October 2020. The data will be submitted to descriptive and inferential statistical analysis and the results obtained presented in Pareto graph, which can be observed if there was improvement and its significance. The study will follow the ethical procedures required by Resolutions Nº510 / 2016 and Nº580 / 2018, and will be submitted to the Research Ethics Committee of Onofre Lopes University Hospital.
