Large urban centers have an increasingly latent and irremediable problem: the waste problem. The objective of this work was to analyze the development of solid waste management in large urban centers in the national and international context.
It is important to emphasize that solid waste management is a multidisciplinary field, which involves knowledge in several areas, such as environmental engineering, urban planning, economics, public policy, among others.
The research regarding its approach is characterized as qualitative, and regarding its objectives, the present work stands out as an exploratory and descriptive study. Delphi methodology will be used. This method is research and forecasting technique that seeks to identify trends and conclusions based on the opinion of specialists in the subject, being indicated for the participatory construction of knowledge based on the experience of the main actors and participants of the theme.
