SUMMARY:

Considering the importance of prenatal care, as well as the use of educational resources in the health teaching process, the elaboration of an educational material that is based on the satisfaction and perception of pregnant women treated at the Felipe Camarão II Basic Health Unit in the Municipality of Natal/RN was idealized with the aim of improving prenatal care.  to meet the needs of the population regarding the service provided in the Health Unit and to enable an autonomous and collective learning of the population as a consequence of the present study. The objective is, therefore, to develop educational material to support prenatal care carried out at the Family Health Strategy Unit of Felipe Camarão II. This is a methodological research for the development of educational material for pregnant women, in the various stages of pregnancy, with mixed data collection through questionnaires and interviews, carried out in two stages: 1) Mapping of the learning needs of pregnant women; 2) Development of Educational Material. Eighty-six pregnant women were followed up at the Unit, on the premises of the Unit, during the prenatal consultations. Based on the answers of the pregnant women, it was possible to perceive that most of the pregnant women presented expectations associated with prenatal care with the pregnant woman (48%) and also that the majority is satisfied with the care offered (50%). A minority did not have previous expectations of prenatal care (28%) and another minority was dissatisfied with the care provided (23%). The pregnant women's answers were used to construct an educational material in the format of a digital booklet. This material will serve as support for face-to-face meetings with pregnant women. It is noteworthy that the study complied with the ethical principles recommended for research carried out with human beings by Resolution No. 466/2012 and No. 510/2016 of the National Health Council.
