SUMMARY:

The Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC) is a technological tool that has been inserted in nursing care over the years to favor longer-lasting and safer access. One of the technologies widely used in the health area, with emphasis on nursing, is the serious game. The present study intends to validate the content of a serious game prototype about PICC in pediatrics, from its indications, insertion and maintenance, as a teaching/learning tool for nurses and nursing students in their clinical practice. This is a quantitative research where the opinion of expert judges was verified regarding content validation, through the agreement of their suggestions. The game prototype was divided into three phases. Each phase was played by the judges and their content was evaluated using a Likert scale, using Pasquali's criteria in order to verify the Content Validation Index (CVI). The participants/judges trained qualified nurses with the PICC course who met pre-established criteria and adapted to the expert classification system of the Fehring Validation Model through selection by convenience with curriculum analysis on the Lattes platform. The adjustments suggested and accepted were carried out, requiring only a single Delphi round, as suitability values were achieved in all items above 0.80. In the end, the CVI of the prototype was 0.98, which showed valid content to compose the serious game. This work has a significant impact on nursing and other professions in the health area, as it may impact the knowledge and use of the PICC in their care and teaching practices, also contributing to patient safety.
