SUMMARY:

Patient safety is essential for the provision of health care in all its environments. Therefore, strategies have been sought to be increasingly empowering professionals in order to make them more alert and closer ly to patient safety, thus ensuring the quality of care and a shorter in-hospital period for them. Thus, the present study aimed to develop the prototype of serious game to support permanent education on the priority goals of patient safety.  Thus, to achieve the objective, applied research was carried out with quantitative approach and transversal character through the application of the methodological framework of Benitti, Seara and Schlindwen, which describes the process in four stages, the first is conception where an integrative review was carried out to identify in the literature the scenarios in which most adverse events are reported to be used in the second stage. The second stage is the elaboration, where the Game Design Document was elaborated for the construction of the prototype proposal using the scenarios identified in the design stage. For the third stage of completion, it is necessary the collaboration of a professional specialized in technology creation, and the fourth stage, the feasibility, requires a preliminary validation with professionals who specialize in patient safety.  However, due to the time bias it was only possible to perform the first two stages. The construction of the integrative review identified the care sectors in which the most patients suffer incidents or adverse events, the types of events that occur and the professionals involved.  Regarding the sectors, we had: Intensive Care Unit (adult and pediatric); medical and surgical wards; obstetrics sector; outpatient examination sector; emergency and emergency care units and surgical sector. The types of events were prescription error; administration error; distribution error. As for the professional classes involved, there were: physicians, nurses and nursing staff, and pharmacists. Based on the information found in the design stage, two scripts for the game are constructed: 1) for the nurse/nursing technician player; 2) for the doctor player. In the development phase of the prototype proposal was elaborated the Game Design Document, a document that defines the theme, objective, target audience and mechanics of the game, describes the scenarios, characters, scripts, interface of the home screen, as well as the sequence, rules and score, and the form of evaluation of the player. The game was designed to make the professional's involvement in the choice of conducts and procedures that may result in different outcomes for the patient. And, with this association, it is expected to improve care practices and reduce the errors and harm caused to patients.
