SUMMARY:

Patient safety is critical to the delivery of healthcare in all your settings. However, currently, patient harm resulting from health care is a major and growing global public health challenge and one of the main causes of death and disability worldwide, also causing damage to the economy. Namely, the present study aimed to develop a prototype proposal for a serious game on patient safety (safetygame), focusing on the protocols of the national patient safety policy (PNSP). Thus, to achieve the objective, an applied research was carried out with a quantitative approach and transversal character. The construction of the serius game was carried out based on the methodological framework of Benitti, Seara and Schlindwen, which describes the process in four stages: conception, elaboration, completion and feasibility. For the design stage, a scope review was carried out in order to identify in the literature the scenarios in which adverse events are most reported to be used in the second stage, which is the elaboration. In the elaboration stage, the prototype proposal was conceived using the scenarios identified in the conception stage. For the finalization stage, the collaboration of a professional specialized in technology creation will be necessary, and the feasibility stage requires a preliminary validation with professionals who are experts in patient safety. The results achieved so far concern the scope review and the construction of Safety game scenarios. In the scope review, it was possible to identify the assistance sectors in which patients suffer the most adverse events, the types of events that occur and the professionals involved. As for the sectors, there were: Intensive Care Unit (adult and pediatric); medical and surgical wards; obstetrics sector; outpatient examinations sector; urgencies and emergencies and the surgical sector. The types of errors were: prescription error; administration error; distribution error. As for the professional classes involved, there were: doctors, nurses and nursing staff, and pharmacists. Regarding the construction of Safetygame scenarios, after carrying out the diagnosis regarding the main scenarios in which assistance errors occur, it is expected to be able to incorporate the protocols in a more dynamic way with the use of active methodology through the use of technology. The game was designed to involve the professional in the choice of conducts and procedures that may result in different outcomes for the patient. And, with this association, it is expected to improve care practices and reduce errors and damage caused to patients.
