SUMMARY:

Objective: This research project was focused on the development and evaluation of a facial simulator model for motor skill acquisition for doctors in the application of botulinum toxin in hemifacial spasm and blepharospasm. Methodology: The project consisted of the development of a facial simulator made of layers of elastomer, among them silicone, which resembles human anatomy. Connected to this model, in a non-fixed way, there was an acrylic base to simulate the position of the face as it was in the dorsal decubitus or a sitting position. Eight doctors experienced in botulinum toxin application on these illnesses were selected and applied an Instrument of Evaluation of Learning Objects – LORI. Results: To develop an effective model in obtaining manual skills for learning and improving the technique of botulinum toxin application in hemifacial spasm and blepharospasm.
