SUMMARY:

Introduction: the evaluation of educational resources is of great importance as a means of providing evidence based on the practices of professionals and important data for the evaluation of the action, in order to subsidize its continuity or revision, an aspect that constitutes a fundamental stage of the process of continuing education. Serious Games as a pedagogical resource have gained prominence, since they provide the development of practices and skills from the simulation of critical situations that involve some risk or require decision-making, in addition to having characteristics that corroborate the profile of the current student. This dissertation highlights an educational intervention using a Serious Game on breastfeeding with professionals from the Ana Bezerra University Hospital. Objective: to evaluate the effectiveness of a Serious Game on breastfeeding as an educational resource for professionals at a Baby-Friendly Hospital. Method: quasi-experimental, single-group, before-and-after, non-randomized research carried out in four stages: 1) Construction of a pre- and post-test instrument; 2) Application of pre-test instrument; 3) Educational intervention (Serious Game); 4) Assessment of satisfaction and effectiveness of the intervention. The study respected the ethical principles recommended for research carried out with human beings by Resolution No. 466/2012 and No. 510/2016 of the National Health Council. Results: the pre- and post-test instrument consists of 10 multiple-choice questions, prepared according to the guidelines of the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) and systematized according to the contents that make up the game. The instrument was developed from a methodological framework adapted from Pasquali's psychometry. The evaluation of the pre and post-test instrument took place with the submission of seven electronic forms through the Google Forms tool, with the acceptance of six judges, from two Delphi Stages. The judges were selected considering their professional performance in assistance or teaching related to breastfeeding. After the modifications suggested after the first stage (Delphi 1) were carried out, the instrument was submitted to the new evaluation stage (Delphi 2). After the new evaluation, all the questions obtained an agreement greater than 80% and CVC>0.8, being considered valid in their content. As for the evaluation of the content validation criteria of the instrument as a whole, after Delphi Stage 2 the instrument obtained a total CVC of 0.99. The educational intervention was carried out with 43 professionals from eight categories. In addition to the pre and post-test, an instrument to assess satisfaction with the game was applied. Regarding the evaluation of effectiveness, the results were statistically significant with post-test scores higher than the pre-test (P< 0.05). The analysis of the satisfaction assessment revealed that, of the 19 items evaluated, only one referring to the illustration category was rated as not adequate by a participant. The other items had an evaluation of more than 85% as excellent. Conclusion: AleitaGame is an innovative teaching resource in the area of breastfeeding and presents itself as an educational tool that follows the paradigm shift in health education. The game presents itself as a relevant tool, capable of transmitting knowledge through dynamic and motivating digital media, which favors clinical reasoning and decision making. It fulfills the role of going beyond mere entertainment, being able to provide the development of practices, skills and abilities.
