SUMMARY:

Suprapubic catheter insertion is a connection surgically performed through the abdominal wall, between the urinary bladder and the external environment, to allow surgical drainage when normal urinary flow is impeded and urethral catheterization is not possible. Suprapubic catheter insertion should be a basic skill of every urologist and general surgeon. It is necessary for physicians to have adequate training to learn accessory techniques. In the case of suprapubic catheter insertion, this training is hampered because this procedure is performed most often in emergency units; in addition, the new reality of medical education, which increasingly abandons Halsted's model, demands new teaching strategies. Recently, the COVID 19 pandemic has also limited in-service training. Simulation emerges as an alternative to overcome such challenges. We propose the creation of a realistic simulator of low cost for the training of suprapubic catheter insertion and its validation of face and content with experienced urologists. This validation will be performed with questions with a Linker scale. With this methodology, we intend to attest to the realism and functionality of the simulator and then contribute to the training of resident physicians.
