SUMMARY:

OBJECTIVES: The project's objectives are to develop and publish a virtual platform in Renal Pathology for the teaching of Glomerulopathies and to evaluate how resident physicians reacted to the way of learning using the developed educational technology. METHODOLOGY: The work was divided into two parts. The first was related to the construction of an online platform for teaching glomerulopathies, NefroAtlas. The development of the platform was carried out through the collaboration of the Nephrology services of HUOL-UFRN,  LIME-UFMA and IMD-UFRN. For the presentation of the development of the platform, the instructional design model “ADDIE” was presented. The second part of the research included a qualitative research, in which 8 medical residents, who used the Atlas for a period of fifteen days, gave their opinions on their learning process through a focus group. A thematic analysis of the material obtained through recording was carried out.RESULTS:The teaching platform was developed and published in website format. It has three sections: Modules, Exams and Reports. The Modules include: two main themes (Normal Kidney and Lupus Nephritis, the main pathology diagnosed by renal biopsy at HUOL). As didactic resources, the following were included: clinical cases, directions and motivating questions, explanatory texts, highlighted images of renal pathology and tests aimed at the student's self-assessment. The evaluation of the residents showed that the project was favorable to the acquisition of new knowledge and presented positive points related to the motivation to use the technological resource, but also the way in which the content was presented. The group of residents also suggested points of changes.CONCLUSIONS:The project can be expanded using the collaborations obtained through the focus group. Teaching platforms can be inserted through the Blended Learning to support the learning of the post and undergraduated medical students.
