SUMMARY:

CONTEXT: Due to the need for changes in the formation of courses in health, resolution 569 of December 8, 2017 reiterates Art. 200 of the 1988 Constitution and approves principles to be incorporated in the National Curriculum Guidelines for Health Courses, as requirements to be taken into account when adapting and building new curricula. OBJECTIVE: The present study aimed to understand how the graduate tutors at the Pediatric Hospital Maria Alice Fernandes understand their role in the formation of critical and reflective health professionals. METHODOLOGY: This is a descriptive-exploratory study, with a qualitative approach, with an intentional, non-probabilistic choice, carried out with undergraduate preceptors from multiple areas at the Pediatric Hospital Maria Alice Fernandes. The sample consisted of 08 undergraduate preceptors invited to the discussion in 1 (one) focus group (FG) and 3 undergraduate preceptors interviewed individually, having as a thematic axis the “understanding of undergraduate preceptors regarding their role in the training of professionals in critical and reflective health ”. The FG discussion and individual interviews were guided through a semi-structured script, previously prepared with 5 open questions, with the researcher as a mediator. RESULTS: The results obtained through this research generated a product capable of providing subsidies to understand the perception of preceptors regarding: knowledge of new curricula in health, knowledge about critical-reflexive skills, their role in the formation of critical and reflective professionals, use of active methodologies for the development of such skills and the strengths and weaknesses in the exercise of preceptorship for the development of critical and reflective skills in undergraduate students
