SUMMARY:

The integral health care, essential for quality assistance, is one of the principles of the Unified Health System (UHS) in Brazil.  To meet this demand, the UHS is responsible for developing capable human resources. In this sense, Interprofessional Education (IE) is one of the central training axes of Multi-professional Health Residency Programs (MpHRP). The scenario of our study is the five residency programs linked to hospitals at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte. Our objective is to analyze the IE proposal of them, as well as the perception of residents about the training they are receiving, aiming interprofessional work. This research is an exploratory study with a qualitative approach. The research corpus consists of the Pedagogical Projects (PP) of the courses and transcribed semi-directed interviews, carried out with the residents. We are analyzing PP and interviews through document analysis and content analysis (framework approach), respectively. So far, the results show us that all MpHRP have a proposal for IE in their PP, with the central formative objective of collaborative practice. By now, we have interviewed 29 residents and analyzed 19 of these interviews. Students recognize IE curriculum strategies, primarily through multi-professional visits and clinical case discussions. However, they point to the need to overcome the barriers of the biomedical model in training practice. Similar studies confirm the gap between the curriculum and the incorporation of IE in training practices. In the next stages of the work, we will specify limits and potentials described by residents for IE in their context as well as suggestions for its strengthening. We also intend to advance the discussion of the results.
