RESUMO:

Objective: To develop a training model with active teaching-learning methods for the development of competence to use the ultrasound device as a guide for internal jugular vein punctures. Method: This is a quasi-experimental, prospective study involving residents of Cardiology and Clinical Medicine, as well as preceptors of the ICU of Hospital Universitário Onofre Lopes (HUOL). In addition to the descriptive analysis of the data, an infernal analysis was performed using the Cronbach alpha coefficient measure25 that evaluates the reliability - consistency of the responses among the group participants for each item of the Activity Assessment and DOPS questionnaires, considering a reliable-consistent alpha coefficient greater than or equal to 0.7. A statistical analysis was performed by Kruskal-Wallis test to compare the groups (residents of medical clinics, cardiology residents and intensive care physicians). The non-parametric Mann-Whitney test was used to analyze the responses between males and females, with values of p ≤ 0.05 or 5% being considered significant. The open answers regarding motives and motivations were analyzed by the free software wordle® (http: wordle.net) to elaborate the cloud of words. Results: Cronbach's alpha test showed that both instruments had a coefficient higher than 0.7, which shows the consistency of the participants' answers, being values 0.828 and 0.766, respectively. There was a predominance of performance in the "satisfactory" stratum in the three domains evaluated by the facilitators. The self-evaluation showed a predominance of this evaluation in the satisfactory stratum, except for the domain "Technical skill", where there was prevalence of the "unsatisfactory" stratum. Participants stated that the course contributed to the improvement of the theoretical-practical skills and mainly helped to demystify and familiarize with the ultrasound guided technique. Nevertheless, six participants cited the need for more practice and training to improve the technique. One participant also mentioned the importance of more courses such as the one held for the training of medical skills.
