RESUMO:

Burns are one of the most frequent health problems in the emergency and emergency departments, and the correct initial care is decisive in reducing the morbidity and mortality of burned patients. Since 2013, the Brazilian Society of Burns (SBQ) has annually administered the National Classification of Burning Attention Course (CNNAQ), organized as modules, which enables physicians and other health professionals to perform the initial care for the victim patient. burns. However, the insertion of the topic burns during medical graduation remains deficient, limited to a theoretical class on the subject during the seventh period (Emergency Medicine Discipline) and practical activities during the internships in Emergency and Emergency (12th. Period). The author 's proposal is to develop an activity aimed at teaching the initial attendance to the burned, in the molds of the CNNAQ, using 100% of active methodologies, that is offered as a third moment of insertion of the subject during the graduation in Medicine. The activity, designed in the form of a one-day mini-course, was divided into four modules, focusing on: 1) the initial assessment and management of the airways, 2) the calculation of burned body surface and hydration, 3) therapeutic planning and wound care and 4) criteria for referral to the burn treatment center. Only active teaching-learning methodologies were used, such as group problem-solving, role playing and conceptual mapping. Thirty-seven students from the Internship in Surgical Clinic (10th Period) participated in the modules and answered a pre-and post-activity evaluation questionnaire, where the impact of students' perceptions regarding burns was observed. It presents the structure of the course in all its standardized modules, which allows its reproduction and application in different scenarios. The author concludes that the proposed curricular modification is feasible, low cost and complexity, and well evaluated by students, so that it proposes its adoption as a permanent activity during the curriculum of the Internship in Clinical Surgery. Additionally, it raises the possibility of taking the activity to other undergraduate teaching institutions, in the form of mini-course in the mold of what is already done at CNNAQ for graduates.
