RESUMO:

The patient’s safety, nowadays, has close relation with quality improvement. The safe health assistance has become a quality indicator and is destined to the prevention of adverse events, such as: falls, errors in the administration of medicines, failure on the identification of patients, surgical errors, hospital-acquired infections, improper handling of medical dispositive and equipment. This project aimed to analyze the impact on the medical practice of health students at a University Hospital, after training of knowledge about safe assistance. This is a quasi-experimental and longitudinal study, with a quantitative approach. The population was composed by undergraduate health students of the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, during the obligatory curricular stage: 94 medicine students, starting from the 10th period, and 12 nursing students, from the 9th period, which agreed to participate in the research. The data collection with medicine students was realized from january to june 2017. With the nursing students it was realized from march to june 2017. The research used a structured questionnaire with closed questions, with the Likert Scale, which was individually answered by the students in the beginning and in the end of the stage. The students of medicine also realized a medical prescription of a predetermined clinic case in the beginning and in the end of the stage. Results: in the analysis of the impact of medical prescription activity, comparative between groups and evaluation moments (before and after) of medicine students it occurred a discreet improvement in the conformity of medical prescription items, when the same was evaluated by members of the Núcleo de Segurança do Paciente (NSP) from HUOL. Considering the questionnaires, a significant worsening occurred in the answer of its items, answered by medicine internship students, comparing before and after the activity. In relation to the nursing student’s questionnaires, a significant improvement occurred in the answered items, comparing before and after the activity.
