The Objective Structural Clinical Evoluation (OSCE) is a methodology that evaluates learning competences, implemented in the medical course of UFRN, since 2011. The studies evaluating the students' perception about the method are still scarce, and to contribute to the studies, in the UFRN study was carried out with the objective of evaluating the student's perception of the methodology in the teaching-learning process in gynecology and obstetrics. This is a descriptive, exploratory, quantitative-qualitative study that interviewed 58 medical students immediately after the OSCE. The free association of words technique (TALP) and the application of a semi-structured questionnaire with a Likert scale and an open-ended question were used. As variables were considered, age, sex and period of the course. 48.3% of the students were in the age group between 25 and 29 years of age, 60% were in the 10th period, followed by 40% of the students who were in the 11th period and there was homogeneity in relation to the sex of the participants. women and men. The collection material was analyzed by the EVOC program, by descriptive statistics, and by the method recommended by Bardin, from categories and subcategories that emerged from this process. In the evaluation of qualification we will demonstrate the results from the TALP. The lexicographic analysis performed by the EVOC 2000 program resulted in 174 words evoked by the students and it was observed that the social representations of the medical student's perception about the OSCE has a central nucleus based on the category emotional instability, while in the peripheral nucleus are the categories of evaluation strategies, positive aspects and limiting aspects, being part of the thematic unit I. When analyzing the statements mentioned in the TALP and correlating with the period and the age of the students, what we found was that the students of both sexes and periods, mentioned good and bad feelings about the process, pointed out advantages and limiting aspects of The Objective Structural Clinical Evoluation. The medical student, by associating nervousness and anxiety with the OSCE as an evaluative method, demonstrates how real his difficulties are. It is concluded that in his perception, the student considers the OSCE a well accepted method, a valid experience and that sediments his professional practice, in spite of the limiting aspects, that in their view, can interfere negatively to a good result and appears as a factor stressing the need for adaptation in the stations, in the time and in the choice of the evaluators. The study provided an evaluation of the student's perception of the OSCE and, in this way, the opportunity to reflect on the use of innovative methodology in their training, allowing the recognition of fragilities and positive points, in order to improve its applicability and results, since the OSCE was considered a great teaching tool and prepares for professional practice and should be maintained in the discipline of gynecology and obstetrics.
