RESUMO:

The teaching-learning process has been characterized in different ways, from the role of the teacher as a transmitter of knowledge  to current conceptions that emphasize students and teachers as active subjects of the process. Nowadays, vocational training is still influenced by the old model, aimed at the transmission of knowledge, but new perspectives have arisen among them, such as health interdisciplinary teaching (HIT), considered as an education model that prioritizes team work. From this perspective,  Health  Multiprofessional Residency Program (HMRP) arose and is understood as a permanent education device in order to change professional practices in health, with the articulation between teaching and sevices based on the principles of integral and interdisciplinary care. Thus, many professionals of the service were inserted as preceptors and the preceptory in health has become a pedagogical practice performed in the workplace and conducted by healthcare professionals. However, some of these preceptors did not have ttraining in education to perform this function, so they have found  difficulties  to adopt teaching-learning strategies that bring scientific knowledge closer to practical reality and can prepare competente professionals as a transforming agent in the various scenarios of the Unified Health System (UHS). Based on this, the present study aimed to analyze the knowledge of teaching methodologies by preceptors in the teaching/learning process of health multiprofessional residents. This is a descriptive, cross-sectional qualitative approach. It was composed by 50 preceptors who have been working for over a year in the health multiprofessional residency of a School Hospital, being this the criterion of inclusion. The data collection was carried out from September to December 2016. A semi-structured script was used to characterize the subjects of study and the application of the word-free association technique. Data were analyzed by the software Ensemble of Programs Permettant L'Analyse des Evocations (EVOC) version 2000 and discussed based on the theoretical framework of the Central Nucleus Theory. The Project was approved by CEP-UFRN, CAAE No. 57891316.0.00005292. Results were divided into three thematic units: knowledge of preceptors about teaching strategies,  knowledge of preceptors about traditional methodology and knowledge of the preceptors on active methodologies. For the purposes of the qualification, the thematic unit I, in which the "definition category" was found as the central nucleus which has revealed the meanings of preceptors on teaching strategies, revealing lower average order of evocation and high frequency words, such as  teaching methods, dynamics, lessons, which have favored learning and collective construction. As intermediate elements arose  the categories: " practical-theoretical use", "deepening of content" and "result of use". The determining subjects for this unit were those that have a preceptory time of more than three years, 19 (38%) and equal percentage for those with stricto sensus education. Data have suggested that preceptors understand the teaching strategies as fundamental for the teaching-learning of health multiprofessional residentes and use them to improve their performance in the preceptoria
