SUMMARY:

In a context which technology is increasingly used in the world of music, it is necessary to discuss, understand and apply this possibility to musical interpretive practices. From the second half of the twentieth century, the computer began to be increasingly used as part of the set up of instrumentalists within musical performances. Electronic sounds could be synthesized and added together with the sounds of the acoustic instruments, in deferred or real time. In parallel, synthesizers and digital instruments continued to be developed. Wanderley (2006) reports that the new methods of sound synthesis contributed to the appearance of new digital instruments, which have their sound generation linked to the use of computers. In this context, through this research, it was noted that few studies were carried out in the academic field related to the use of the drums and technological mediation. Therefore, this work proposed to research and execute different works that associate the drums to technological resources. The methodology of this work was based on the choice of the repertoire and its respective interpretation. Through the experimentation workshops, we explore the various possibilities related to this theme in the construction of performances linked to the context of contemporary music. Thus, the studied and presented works were: Post-Lightened, Maracá: para tape, instrumentos de percussão e uma bateria compartilhada and Quatro Voltas ao Início. In addition to these, the following works are in the process of being studied for future performance and analysis: Buttonwood and Gravidade Zero. The analysis takes place from the audio and video records of the rehearsals and performances of the works. Among the results presented, the creation of grooves for the drum duo and the use of cell phone with electronics in real time stands out. The need for technical/interpretive refinement applied to each of the interpreted works was also discussed. More specifically, we reflect from the analytical and reflective observation on musical gestures and the musician's posture in an environment with more attributions and perceptions that go beyond playing his instrument. Therefore, the reflection on technical-interpretive aspects, as well as the performances of these works contributed for research involving drums and technological resources to be developed and the sound materials were generated and analyzed in this context.
