RESUMO:

Instrument specific interpretive practices in a musical performance is a focus that has been gaining special interest in research over the years. This has awakened the approach to teaching methodology and all its aspects. This dissertation it points to the importance of teaching of popular Brazilian music, its formation, and is in context with the upper echelon of the individual Bachelor program at The School of Music at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte. In this regard, and in a methodological manner, the authors who best define the characteristics of interpretive practices and instrumental teaching factors are identified.  These factors are interconnected with the study and is research aimed at teaching of popular Brazilian music and it is influenced from a general way; i.e. how these interpretive practices/students are affected, how the horn and research thereof finally present the scope – in other words, what are the principal methods, the pedagogical and material guidelines, and what would allow the interpretive practices and teaching of popular Brazilian music. The evidence and work presented herein principally show the importance that the research carries within the context of musical performance and particularly the importance of research itself. The interpretive practices and teaching methodology of teaching of popular Brazilian music using the horn as a musical instrument are discussed. That being said, this work contributes to a greater appreciation of research in the instrument area and opens a range of possibilities for the music studied in the Bachelors degree program and the horn specifically as an instrument of focus.
