RESUMO:

The theme of this research is centered around the debate about learning at the postgraduate level and the training of the researcher in music. In this perspective, the objective of this work was to identify and analyze the concepts of the Masters of the Postgraduate Programs in Music at UFRN and UFPB on the training of the researcher in Music. This dissertation was theoretically guided by such authors who discuss the training of researcher as Linhares Hostins (2013); Saviani (2007; 2010); Severino (2009), Trejo Léon (2017), among others. We also cover authors dealing with the research and production of knowledge in music and music education (DEL-BEN, 2010; 2014, QUEIROZ, 2013; FIGUEIREDO, 2010; LUCAS, 1991). The methodologies used in this dissertation gain perspective via the qualitative and quantitative approaches of research, with a greater emphasis on the qualitative research of research. The research did not focus on the use of a specific method, which allowed the use of data construction tools such as the questionnaire in a first stage, and the semistructured interview in a second stage of the investigative process. This led to the objective of deepening the knowledge about the subject of study. As a result, I detected that the training of the music researcher, according to the concepts of the master’s occurs in both master's and doctoral courses. There is a divergence regarding CNPq’s concept on the concession of productivity grants in research - PQ. For example, having the title of Doctor is one of the requirements for these grants. Another point concerns a qualitative concern with the training of the researcher in music in the sense of advancement in the area. In this sense, it is necessary to think of the production of knowledge in music, not only quantitatively, but above all, qualitatively. This leads to the emergence of the productivity-quality dilemma in postgraduate studies (SAVIANI, 2010). Another aspect concerns the professor-researcher, gleaned from the data on the expectation of professional performance. The results also point to the importance of the research for the training of the researcher in music, as well as the master’s being a space of human maturation (aspect of human education). I conclude that it is necessary to reflect on the training of the researcher, in the sense of thinking about the advancement of knowledge in the area of music. I believe that the training in research or the training of the researcher in music is multifaceted, contemplated by a series of aspects, which requires a multiplicity of knowledge. Together, this configures amongst the researcher's training in music in the contemporary world.
