RESUMO:

The present research aims to identify and understand the formative-musical dimensions that guide the educational actions of the NGO Ilha de Música. This study, which presents some chapters still under construction, seeks to contextualize the location of Ilha de Música, the reality of the people living in that community, to understand the origin and purpose of the musical work performed there, reveal the musical practices adopted by the NGO and the teaching methods used by their teachers. Through the bibliographical review, we sought to understand the role of music education in these contexts and, thus, to construct a dialogical path capable of embracing the idiosyncrasies inherent in social projects that use music as a means of social insertion. It is configured as a qualitative research, which through the case study modality seeks to substantiate the relations between music education, music and education. It considers music as a phenomenon that, being used for educational purposes, needs to attend to the meanings of each context. With the progress of the analysis, extracted from some observations and semi-structured interviews, a framework begins to unfold in which the practices, conceptions and educational methods adopted by the Ilha de Música present a synchronism between the conceptions of the interviewees, as well as different attentions on the same ones aspects. Concerning the musical education adopted, it has been revealed up to the present moment, a commitment with a teaching of music that values intuition, interdisciplinarity, pleasure for musical making, ethics and respect for diversities.
