RESUMO:

This article offers an interpretative approach to the three studies for trombone and piano by composer José Siqueira. Its purpose to assist trombonists who want to perform the work as well as to disseminate it in the academic field, since the works of foreign composers prevail in the institutions of teaching in the chamber repertoire for trombone. The studies show difficulties in the interpretative questions and in its technical execution in the movement of the stick, besides showing several peculiar questions like the use of the mute, effects of the glissando and ornaments like the trinado. The piece also becomes interesting in evidencing regional aspects of Brazilian music besides extolling the work of national composers. It is also important to say that the work is present in the repertoire of important musicians and is found in the programs of competitions for both trombonists and on piano accompanist. Another important fact about the Three Studies is that there are three recordings of the work. For that, four methods for trombone - Bordogni (1928), Arban (1936), Gillis (1966) and Lafosse (1924) are suggested as tools to aid the performance of the movements. The interpretative suggestions presented should be seen as facilitators for future executions of the work and not requirements for the interpretation of the three Studies.
