RESUMO:

The present work deals with particular aspects of the guitarist composer Anibal Augusto Sardinha, Garoto (1915-1955), from the influence of American jazz under the bias of erudite music for guitar. The objective is to present a background in order to emphasize suggestions that provide an original interpretation referring to aspects of melody, harmony and rhythm in the works: Enigma, Lamento do Morro, Duas Contas and Impossible. Based on the authors: Antônio e Pereira (1982), Junqueira (2010), Delneri (2009), Mello (2012) among others, and interviews with guitarist and composer Carlos Lyra (1935), as well as analysis and study of works. The research circumscribes in five chapters; In the first discourse about Garoto and the popular Brazilian solo guitar; The second chapter explores the influence of jazz in its composition; Third, points out his contributions to solo guitar and Brazilian popular music, emphasizing the tensions added to the chords, and influences in the actuality of the composer; Fourth chapter, presents considerations of his experiences under the popular and scholarly bias; And in the fifth and last chapter we present analysis of the works directing practical interpretative suggestions. The results present information that corroborates to affirm the contribution of Garoto to the concert guitar. So also for the interpreter of Garoto's works, and also in broad contexts of Brazilian popular music research.
