RESUMO:

Choir singing is one of the most common areas of work for the performance music teachers. This happens probably because it is a low-cost musical practice that can bring many educational benefits to those who practice it, besides being an interesting means to bring onto the public the work done in the classroom. However, from my experiences a teacher of public education, and based on the constant observation of the performance of music teachers in this area, I could realize that they lag behind in terms of knowledge for conducting this activity, leaving aside important technical aspects in regards to the use of the voice during childhood. This research is based on the methodological process of action-research together with the musical pedagogical practices developed at the Children’s Choir of UFRN Music School, where I conducted the guidance of five licensees for the work in this area. The guidelines of the present work are in accordance to the principles of authors like Amato, Figueiredo, Fonterrada, Joly, Mathias, and Zander; and are based on the activities already carried out by the researcher during the course: ‘Oriented Activities II Methodology of the Voice and Choral Music Education”, which is part of the Music syllabus of the music graduation degree of the aforementioned university during the semester of 2015.2 This research aims to contribute to the development of teachers’ training in the performance with choir singing and to expand the discussion of the theme ‘children’s choir singing in teacher education’ in the context of music education, which is a rich area for music education
