SUMMARY:

This professional master's final work is an architectural proposal, accompanied by a technical report, with the objective of conceiving a project for the biomedical university residence at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), with a focus on integration with the surroundings. Currently, in operation and with a vital social function, the biomedical university residence at UFRN presents a series of technical and functional problems that hinder its use. The difficulty of access and the isolation between the building and its surroundings, together with the lack of accessibility, highlight the need for changes in the physical structure of the site. Therefore, this work proposes a new configuration for the housing space, aiming to promote the collectivity and the relationship between its residents, the building, and its immediate surroundings. For the development of the project, a theoretical-conceptual deepening was initially carried out on the theme and on the architectural variables involved, through bibliographical research and studies of design references. Then, the architectural programming was developed together with the definition of design dilemmas and the scope of the project. With the help of the curricular components of the course and various forms of recording, such as sketches, physical models, and drawings using software, the design process encompassed the study of constraints, the creation of a concept, the definition of the architectural approach and the evolution of the proposal, going through the stages of analysis, synthesis, and evaluation. The projected building is proposed in a hybrid structure, incorporating prestressed concrete and steel in its design. It has 05 floors developed in accordance with the programming and concepts set out in the report. Finally, the proposal sought integration at its different levels, adequacy to legal issues, enhancing access and promoting accessibility, connecting its surroundings, and creating spaces with elements that improve the community at the macro and micro scales of the project.
