SUMMARY:

The Brazilian Prison System suffers with the deficit of vacancy, as well as the degradation of the prison units all-over the country. The actual population of prisoners in Brazil has a deficit of 350 thousand vacancies. Given the current conjecture, as well as the degradation of the prison’s infrastructure, the resocialization of people is increasingly far all over the country. The State of Rio Grande do Norte is passing for a restructuring of the prison’s units after the rebellions that occurred in the year of 2017 and caused several escapes and deaths in many prison’s units in the State. This work has as objective an architectural design for an extension of the Complexo Penitenciário Dr. Mário Negócio, located in the city of Mossoró, state of Rio Grande do Norte, with emphasis in resocialization of convicted prisoners. Through the theory of resocialization humanistic introduce in this work, following the normative and current laws for the elaboration of this project category, as well as seeking the focus of this theme through sensory architecture and security, the architectural design of extension was reasoned to bring a penitentiary in the State of Rio Grande do Norte, alternatives of resocialization for those who serving restrictive sentences in prison through activities similar to the diary activities of the person outside the prison environment. Are they: Work, education, sports, religious activities, medical care and recreation. Many studies and bibliographic research ware made and became necessary, as well as the search of reference projects.
