SUMMARY:

This Master’s degree final project, also composed of a technical report, consists of the development of an architectural project for a sensory museum. According to Pallasmaa (2011), there is an imbalance in the understanding and use of the senses, in which the current exaggeration in the emphasis on the intellectual and conceptual dimensions of architecture contributes to the disappearance of its physical, sensory and bodily essence. Allied to this we have the perception that urban life, in the last centuries, in addition to increasing the distance between human beings and nature, has produced an increasing bombardment of the population's senses. And little by little, people lost the ability to appreciate, understand and differentiate the diversity of sensations: sounds, smells, textures and materials (LANDRY, apud TIMENI, 2019). Parallel to this, IBRAM (Brazilian Institute of Museums) argues that museums are part of the production and cultural diffusion system of a given region, being important for the formation and education of society, contributing to the increase of social cohesion and the affirmation of citizenship and social identities. In this context, we have that photography can be seen as a means of personal expression, it has its place in the field of visual arts, it has its function of documentation and reflection of the reality represented, in addition to registering the affective side of people, their friends, family members, their achievements (KUBRUSLY, 2006). The objective of this work is to develop the architectural project of a museum that encourages the use of all senses from the user's experience in the projected environment, focused on photographic exhibitions. In order to develop the project, a theoretical and conceptual study was carried out on the theme, considering the works of Pallasmaa (2011 and 2018), Milanesi (2003), Gob (2019), Mortimer (2017), Kossoy (2001), among others, besides of previous design reference studies. Then, the architectural programming was developed, with definition of dilemmas and goals of the project, based on Kowaltowsi (et al. 2017). From this base, and with the help of the curricular components of the course, the design process is gradually being developed and mapped, through various forms of registration, from the initial stages of studies of constraints, design and development of the architectural party. Considering the qualification stage of this work, the proposal is in progress and the final results will be presented at the end of this master's degree.
