RESUMO:

This professional master's degree work consists on a project of a mixed use building, designed to meet the new urban and social dynamics, with emphasis on the development of a contemporary formal architecture, using unusual construction method and materials in Natal. This document consists of a technical report and an architectural project. Considering the Brazilian real estate boom, followed by the crisis that began in 2014, there has been an emptying of the central areas and with better infrastructure of the cities, which, concomitant with a stagnation and reduction in project quality, result in buildings increasingly more isolated from the urban environment, generating several social problems, being one of the most worrying today, the growth of urban violence. As architects and urban planners, we are important actors in the production of urban space, and it is important to discuss and analyze how we are contributing or not to this situation and how to improve it. Thus, to meet the final product of this work, the main objective is to develop the mixed-use building project, aimed at new urban and social trends, using unconventional construction method in Natal, and specific: to understand the concepts of urbanity and urban vitality, relating to the context of  Natal; to understand the differences, advantages and disadvantages between the densified and horizontal city; seek global trends in housing projects related to “living”; to understand the projectual production developed in Natal in recent years, its relationship with the urban and the construction methods used. For the elaboration of the architectural proposal, it began by deepening the theoretical and conceptual on the theme, through bibliographical research and studies of project references and then, it was started for the architectural programming, with definition of dilemmas and goals of the project. From this basis, and with the help of the contents worked in the subjects studied, the design process was gradually being developed and mapped, from the initial stages of conditioning studies, conception and development of the architectural party, so that the results of the studies and simulations obtained led to a proposal considered satisfactory. The set objectives are expected to have been achieved
