The following research presents the theme of fire safety directed at buildings of patrimonial value and has as its application the retrofit in the Cultural Center of São Francisco, located in João Pessoa / PB, currently in operation, but lacking in fire safety requirements, the which makes it liable to great losses, including for the cultural and tourist programming of the capital in case there is any related incident. Therefore, it is desired to identify the vulnerability of the building to the risk of fire, to recognize aspects that bring improvements to the buildings of historical interest as fire safety, as well as to qualify the environments that are part of the patrimonial heritage from the promotion of safety of immovable property. In these buildings, it is understood that the risk is greater than that found in other buildings, given the peculiarities of historic buildings, which have often old and deficient electrical  installations and few passive and active fire protection requirements, the which makes a building vulnerable to criminal acts as well, so it is easy to understand the risk that history has. This will use the IPHAN Monumenta Program, which identifies the important aspects for a risk analysis in historical heritage and the necessary requirements for improvements in its protection and, subsequently, to support the development of the Fire Safety retrofit proposal of the Cultural Center of San Francisco, combining the conditions established in the regulations of the Fire Department and institutions for the protection of heritage for the longevity of cultural wealth, so that it reaches the generations that are yet to come.
