RESUMO:

The Centro de Convivência Djalma Marinho (CCDM), built in the 1980s at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) to serve as a place for integration and development of student's activities, after 30 years, witnesses the transformation of its space into a different purpose from its original design. Instead of an inviting and friendly place, what is found is basically a shelter for daily facilities, represented by financial services and assistance, post-office and food services, in addition to other activities. However, an opportunity has arisen for revision of this situation by way of the academic scope of the UFRN Mestrado Profissional do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Arquitetura, Projeto e Meio Ambiente (PPAPMA). This work presents the conditions, procedures and results that make up the entire perceived process of development of a CCDM requalification architectural project and design proposal that seeks to promote its characteristics as a meeting and integration place for the university community. Its scope is structured as follows: methodology; definition of the design problem; primary generators; elaboration; and draft. The methodology approach is adapted to the specific project development, a structure for organizing planning for production and registration of activities. In the definition of the design problem, the restrictions that were associated with its development are related. In the primary generator, the procedures and efforts for outlining the project central idea are presented. The elaboration section accompanies the evolution of the initial idea until its final formalization that is presented, in the following part, alongside the graphic documentation records and the proposal textual descriptive contributions and justification. A final chapter will present a reflection on the product achieved, as well as on the work process.
