RESUMO:

Many physical limitations observed in the population, and the asymmetries a relevant factor for the inefficiency of motor gestures, are in daily activities as well as in sports. The discrepancy members is an example of these asymmetries, and the condition in which the members are visibly uneven when paired, affecting more often the lower limbs. The objective of this study was todescribe the instrument and identify the correlation and the statistical difference between a method of assessing low-cost lower limbs discrepancy and the method considered gold standard for this. This is a cross-sectional study in which the discrepancies of lower limbs of five subjects were evaluated using this low cost device called Legmeter and compared with the results reported by the radiograph. For the data normality, the Shapiro-Wilk test was used, the Student's T-test and the pearson's correlation test were used for the distribution and correlation level of the data, respectively. The results showed that the two methods did not present statistical differences (p = 0.598) and presented a high positive correlation (r = 0.917; p = 0.029). In this way, the Legmeter low-cost discrepancy assessment method is shown as a reliable and more accessible resource for this type of evaluation. More studies are being performed with larger sample sizes to obtain more consistent results.
