SUMMARY:

In recent years, the approach to minority studies in the political, social, and academic field has been of great relevance. Therefore, this research aims to understand how the construction of the homosexual character takes place, with regard to his ideological formation, in the work Nasci sem um caminho de volta [I was born with no way back], by Brazilian writer Raimundo Neto. Thus, it seeks to answer the following research question: To what extent does the main character’s ideological formation is constructed, based on the representation of violence against the queer body, in Nasci sem um caminho de volta? The analysis is based on Bakhtin’s theory of the novel, in cooperation with concepts from queer theory and discussions on symbolic and physical violence, as a possible dialogue of themes necessary for the analysis of the narrative. Specifically, to understand the protagonist of the novel, the study of the clash between authoritarian discourses and internally persuasive discourses will be necessary to understand his ideological formation throughout the entire analysis. As a partial result, it is possible to state that the narrator-character positions himself responsively so as not to contradict the sexist authoritarian discourses represented in the novel.
